If you are still working and have health insurance through your employer, you can delay enrolling in Part B without a penalty. You can enroll later during a Special Enrollment Period when your employment or coverage ends.

You can sign up online at the Social Security website, by visiting your local Social Security office, or by calling Social Security.
  • Where can I get set up ("registered") online with my Medicare Advantage plan, and what are the first steps after enrollment?
After you've enrolled in a Medicare Advantage (MAPD) plan, the next step is to complete the registration process with your chosen carrier. Here are the links to the new customer registration pages for the major carriers: United Health Care (UHC) Aetna Humana Cigna Devoted Blue Cross Blue Shield Anthem To complete the registration, you will need your new Member ID number from the carrier and/or your Medicare number. If you haven't received your Member ID yet (which typically arrives within 15 days or more after your enrollment), please reach out to us. In many cases, after the processing period, we can assist you in locating this information.
  • How long will it take to receive my plan materials from the carrier after completing my enrollment?
The carriers ask us to let you know that you can typically expect to receive your plan materials within 15 days after the day your application was originally processed. This includes a welcome email, most often titled “onboarding,” with instructions to access the carrier's online portal and physical plan materials. However, if your application was processed during the busy Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), which runs from October 15th through December 7th, it’s common for these materials, especially onboarding emails, to take longer to arrive due to high processing volumes. You should receive your materials before your new coverage begins. Please note that these emails and materials come directly from the carrier, not from us. While we encourage you to keep an eye on your inbox (and check your spam folder), delays do happen. If you haven’t received your plan materials within a reasonable timeframe, you can contact your chosen Medicare Advantage plan directly to inquire about their status. Alternatively, you can schedule some time with us here, and we’ll assist you in contacting your provider.
  • Is there a link I can use to search for providers within my plan's network online?
Yes! Here are some links to search for many of the providers in your plan's network with the following carriers: UnitedHealthcare (UHC) Aetna Humana Anthem Cigna Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Devoted Wellcare If you don’t see your provider listed, or if you’d prefer to speak with us directly, feel free to call us at 916-510-0319 or schedule a time with us here.

  • Can I make changes to my application or email address before my enrollment is fully processed?
Unfortunately, no changes can be made to your application while it’s still processing with the carrier. Once your enrollment has been completed and processed, you’ll be able to log into your account or contact the carrier directly to make any updates to your information, including your email address. If you’d like assistance with this or need help contacting your carrier, you can schedule time with us here.
  • Was I supposed to get an email from the carrier that I needed to reply to?
The carrier may send emails during the enrollment process, but not all emails require a response. Typically, you’ll receive a confirmation email once your application is processed, and if additional action is needed, the carrier will provide clear instructions on how to proceed. If you haven’t received any emails that require a response or are unsure if you need to take action, feel free to schedule a time with us here, and we can help clarify things for you.
  • Can I change my Medicare plan if I’m not happy with it?
Yes, you can change your Medicare plan during the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 - December 7) or during other special enrollment periods if you qualify.
